A few kilometers drive from Ostuni, the smaller hilltop town of Cisternino vies for its ‘White City’ title, with a wonderful, traffic-free, white historical centre. I recommend closing your eyes if you can while passing though the tedious, grey modernity of the sprawling new buildings around its base.
