For my 2-day stay on North Uist I stayed at the glorious Bagh Alluin B&B run by Jac Volbeda. It's on Baleshare island, connected to the west coast of North Uist by a short causeway.
Jac's an emigré Dutch artist who's been attracted by the remote landscapes of the Outer Hebrides, and divides his time between running the B&B and painting in the studio. Whehn he isn't helping his neighbour deliver lambs, that is.
This is a lovely place, greatly enhanced by Jac's generosity and conversation.
