I've just got the new Olympus E-M1 mkii camera and 300mm f4 lens and had fun with them at our local bird reserve.
Mirrorless cameras until now have been rubbish at getting birds in flight in focus, but I got some reasonable shots despite this being my first attempt for around 5 years. Technology has marched on.
It's difficult to keep swooping lapwings in the frame with a 600mm equivalent lens, but the amazing image stabilization of the system helps a lot, and its compact size meant I could spend 4 hours hand-holding the gear without needing physiotherapy afterwards.
