This blog, illustrating my quest to find and document the landscape locations used by the American photographer Paul Strand, was inspired by my copy of the first edition of the book "Tir a'Mhurain" he published with Basil Davidson based on a 3-month visit to Benbecula and South Uist in 1954.

Anyone wishing to learn about the current appearance of Strand's landscapes can follow the earlier pages on my blog on this site, particularly the 'Finding Strand' pages which map their locations and show how the landscapes look today.
